There is a principle about the church that many leaders in the church have either forgotten, or they don’t care about because they are going to run the church the way they think is best.

The Principle—When the church is absolutely different from the world, the world will listen to its message.  But, when the church tries to be like the world, they have nothing to say to the world.

There are three secular philosophies that have cause the church to become more like the world.

1.  Postmodernism—This philosophy rejects absolute truth.  Instead, we are to respect each other’s  opinions.  This philosophy attacks the authority of the Bible.  There are many leaders and people in the church today who are making decisions based on opinions and experience rather than biblical teaching.

2.  Pragmatism—This says the value of any idea is determined by the practical consequences.  If it works, it is good.  If it does not work, it is wrong.  The Bible says success is doing the will of God regardless of the consequences.

This is why drama, video, pop-psychology, comedy, and other forms of entertainment have replaced biblical worship and preaching in many churches today.

3.  Market Driven Consumerism—Find out what people want and advertise they can come to your church to get it.  There are many leaders who do not understand there is a difference between a crowd and a church.

We don’t have the right as Christians to organize and run the church any way we want to.  Christ is the head of the church (Colossians 1:18), so we should organize it and run it His way.  That’s why He gave us the Pastoral Epistles (1 Timothy; 2 Timothy; Titus).

1 Timothy 3:14-15.  “I am writing these things to you…so that…you will know how people must conduct themselves in the household of God. NLT

Let’s do God’s work God’s way and we will get His blessings.
